Fujifilm has just announced Instax Mini 12, the latest addition to its family of instant cameras. It comes as a successor to the Mini 11, launched in 2020. While they don’t differ too much, the Mini 12 brings a new look, as well as new and more intuitive zooming. It lets you twist the lens to zoom, bringing you a bit closer to the feel of using your DSLR or mirrorless camera.

Like the Mini 11, the Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 features Close-Up Mode and Auto Exposure adjustment. But it adds the new Parallax Correction feature. This allows the camera’s viewfinder to align with the lens when using Close-Up Mode, minimizing object shifts. It also features automatic flash control, and Fujifilm promises “optimized image quality” in both daylight and dark.

The camera’s design is slightly different, but it keeps a recognizable look. The most exciting change is the lens structure design. You turn the camera on and off by twisting the lens, as well as access the Close-Up mode. This can be a double-edged sword, though, as you can accidentally turn your camera off when you want to take a close-up shot.

Another novelty that comes with the Instax Mini 12 is the INSTAX UP, a new free smartphone app from Fujifilm. If you’re an Instax user, it lets you digitally scan, import, organize, and store your photos in one place, regardless of the instant film, camera, or a printer you use.

The Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 will be available in five colors: Blossom Pink, Mint Green, Clay White, Lilac Purple, and Pastel Blue. The company expects it to launch around mid-March 2023 at USD 79.95 and CAD 99.99. We’ll keep you updated with the links and detailed specs, so stay tuned.
